CHURCHES
San Thome Church, San Thome High Road  Further down south on Marina is the Santhome Cathedral Basilica. According to the legends, one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ - St. Thomas, in his mission to spread Christianity in Asia, came to Chennai soon after Jesus was crucified. He lived and preached in St.Thomas Mount. This Cathedral has been built on his burial site.‘ 24, Santhome High Road, Mylapore, Chennai – 600 004.

CHURCHES
American Church   The Armenian Church, Chennai was initially constructed on 1712 near Fort St.George, and it was destroyed in the French Siege in 1746. The Church was completely rebuilt again on 1772, on the site of the Armenian cemetery. That is a marvel of architectural beauty and this is one of the credited monuments in Tamil Nadu and among oldest churches existing in India. It has a magnificent bell tower having 6 bells, claimed to be the largest in Chennai.

CHURCHES
Little Mount Shrine  Little Mount has great historical significance even during the first century as St Thomas, one of the twelve Apostles, preached and prayed on this Mount in 68 A. D. Before the Portuguese held sway in the 16th century over this part of the country, the early Rajas and Nawabs of the place were sympathetic protectors of this Holy Shrine. In 1551 some improvements were made in Little Mount, which was till then only a steep rocky hill, for the convenience of the pilgrims. This fact is inscribed on a big stone which has been fixed at the top of the steps towards the North of the Hill. The church of Our Lady was built and given to the Portuguese Jesuits. On the occasion of the 19th Century celebrations of St Thomas in 1972, a large Church was built and consecrated for the benefit of the increasing parishioners and pilgrims. The cave and the miraculous spring are the two main monuments of Little Mount. The spring is called St Thomas Fountain. The Holy Apostle, who lived at Little Mount, was moved to see that the people, who came to hear his preaching, suffered from thirst. He knelt in prayer and struck the rock with his stick and instantly there gushed forth a spring of water. It is believed that St Thomas often retired to this solitary cave on the hill for meditations and prayers.

CHURCHES
Our Lady of Lourdes Church  The church is known as the Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, Madras/Chennai ,India. It's architecture is similar to the one at Lourdes ,France.
CHURCHES
Anderson Church  John Anderson arrived in Madras as one of the many Scottish missionaries. He started the John Anderson General Assembly School in 1835, which later was christened the Madras Christian College and School and later was shifted to George Town. It is indeed ironical that this zestful educationalist is now remembered not for what he actually stood for; rather his name was given to the church situated in George Town where once the handsome buildings of the Madras Christian College stood. The church, attractive with its unique, slim, towering steeple reminds us of the fire that burnt in the heart of the enthusiast. Location: Broadway, Chennai - 600 108.

CHURCHES
Annai Velankani Church  This shrine is situated on the shores of Bay of Bengal; near the Elliot’s beach at Besant Nagar. This beautiful shrine is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Annai Velankani. The church is the replica of the Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Velankani. People belonging to all faith and religion gather here for worship. This church attracts lots of people and it is believed that one will get the same blessings in this shrine of Virgin Mary as he gets in Velankani.
