YSR Congress
Party chief, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s petition to campaign for the upcoming
by-election via electronic media was declined by the High Court on Thursday. Y S Jagan’s petition was a plea to the high
court to allow him to communicate to the people through electronic and print
media for the upcoming by-election and this petition was filed, under the Right
to Expression Act under Article (1) (A) and Article 21, on Wednesday.
The high court decided that this petition required further probing as YS
Jagan is in jail not for a political crime but under a disproportionate assets
case and has therefore postponed further hearing on the petition to the 21st
of June. In the meantime, the high court has ordered the CBI to come up with a
counter petition within 2 weeks.
