The fish medicine that was to be distributed by the Battini Brothers at the Katedan Sports Complex
turned into a disaster when the sudden influx of people led to a stampede, resulting in the loss of 1
life and serious injury of over 40 others. People had turned up from neighbouring states as well for
this fish medicine. Neglect on the part of the local officials responsible for the Complex and police
who were unable to control the crowd resulted in this disaster. Last minute change of venue and
a lack of basic amenities led to people sleeping on the roads before the start of the fish medicine
distribution program, followed by the stampede, loss of life and serious injuries.
