Ramesh Babu who won as the TDP MLA from
Vemulawada constituency in 2009 resigned from TDP and decided to contest on the
TRS ticket in the 2010 by-election and won. His citizenship came under scrutiny
back in 2009 when the Congress filed a complaint against him on grounds of
having an illegal secondary source of income (as a professor in Germany). Today
MP Ponnala filed a complaint with the speaker, stating the above, adding that
there was hardly any development in Vemulawada and that over the past 3 years
Ramesh Babu was in India for less than 100 days, which was not acceptable. MP
Ponnala has requested the speaker to initiate action against Ramesh Babu for
the same.
