The central department of
Electronic and Information Technology has approved two electronic clusters for
Andhra Pradesh. One near to Fab city and the other at Maheswaram in Ranga reddy District. IT
minister Mr.Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that such clusters would be first in the
country. He also says that the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) near Fab
city will be set up on 602.37 acres of green field at an estimated cost of
Rs.580 crore..IT minister said, "The steering committee on clusters of the
central department has approved an amount of Rs 235.6 crores. While the SEZ
area of the cluster would be over 263 acre, non SEZ area would be 339
acres”. Ponnala Lakshmaiah says, The electronic Industries Association of AP
shown interest and committed to invest about Rs.1,800 crore at the cluster at
Fab city.The employment potential would be 35,000 while the indirect employment
potential would be 2.1 lakh.Where as EMC at Maheshwaram is to come up on 310
acres at an estimated cost of Rs.360 crores. Apart
from these two clusters an cluster at Parawada, Visakhapatnam is also in
proposal
